For years I relied on yoga to keep a healthy state of mind until a recurring back injury and sciatica kept me from exercising on land. During this painful time, I discovered Aqua Yoga.
The first time I practiced yoga in the pool I was amazed by the way I could to stretch and and strengthen my body without compromising my back. This was very calming to my mind. I wasn't as fearful of making a wrong move which could result in increased nerve pain. In the warm water, I felt a support and a relief from gravity that I could not find on land. Aqua Yoga was bliss after so much discomfort!
In 2010, after 10 years of often crippling sciatica, I reluctantly had back surgery (microdiscectomy). Aqua Yoga helped me get back in touch with my body and regain strength post surgery. I now practice and teach "land" and aqua yoga around Austin. Aqua Yoga has transformed my life and in the spirit of gratitude, I wish to share it with others.
I am a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT) and have over 1000 hours of yoga and meditation teacher training. My teaching style is influenced by my trainings in Aqua Kriya Yoga, Mindful Self Compassion, Tibetan Heart Yoga, Dharma Yoga, Anatomy of the Chakras and Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy.
